Neighbourhood Plan Survey
The survey form for our Neighbourhood Plan will be arriving in your letterbox any day now (some of you may already have received it). Please set aside an hour in Lockdown, make a mug of good coffee and sit down with your partner and complete the form!
There is no hidden agenda, no subtle conspiracy; your Parish Council want to understand YOUR preferences, opinions and ideas for the area and what goes on within it. Once Covid is behind us we hope to organise public meeting sessions and focus groups but we first need your views to give us somewhere to start.
The Plan is a vision for the future. It cannot challenge the overall number of dwellings which the Borough’s Local Plan sets but it does give the community a direct say in defining the look and feel of new developments, the type of housing required and the design of each site to make it more acceptable for the community at large. The Plan also enables us to identify the key strategic issues facing the area: e.g. traffic, environmental impact, sustainable living; prioritise the use of our share of the Community Infrastructure Levy (which is charged on new developments to help improve local infrastructure); how we want our green spaces and leisure facilities to grow and develop and also our commercial and employment centres. It will help prevent speculative development and is being developed with sustainability and the Climate Emergency at its heart.
The survey has been funded from a central government grant and completed forms may be posted back to the Parish Council or dropped in the letter boxes at the offices in Lockleys Drive or outside the Civic Centre in Prospect Place, using the envelope provided. Further copies are available via the web site and an online version will be available soon. Please tell us what you think and shape the future of our Parish for the next 15-20 years.
